VR ICU® - Virtual training environment for healthcare professionals

A collaborative immersive digitally simulated environment where users learn through direct experience and fix correct procedures and habits for setting up devices and for crisis situations. The platform was created primarily in response to the needs of hospitals in the Covid era.

Current:

The operation of devices in the ICU (pulmonary ventilators, dialysis, etc.) can currently only be trained in practice when the device is connected to a specific patient.

VR capabilities and benefits:

the virtual environment allows training in setting up and operating life-saving devices. It speeds up competent decision making in a crisis situation, allows substitutability of specialized personnel, maintains the necessary level of skill in procedures for low-frequency cases. Medical devices (dialysis, pulmonary ventilators, ECMO ) in one place.

Standards:

VR ICU® uses FHIR standards for easy integration of the application into existing systems.

Future:

A team of Virtual Lab experts in cooperation with the 1st Faculty of Medicine UK spin-off company Creative Connections is testing the superstructure using AI - artificial intelligence.

Used by:

Hospital České Budějovice, IKEM, 1st and 3rd Medical Faculty of Charles University, SIMU MUNI, OFFIS (University of Oldenburg Germany).
